Aishwarya Rai had her first commercial and critical success with Rajeev Menon’s 'Kandukondain Kandukondain during her initial years.

The cinematographer-turned-director returns to direction after 14 years now. The filmmaker is set to direct his most ambitious biopic on the legendary Carnatic singer, MS Subbulakshmi.

This would be one of the most ambitious biopics ever, to be made at a sprawling cost of Rs 70 crores in three languages Hindi, Tamil and English. AR Rahman has been confirmed for the film and he will score the music.

Menon wanted a South Indian actress who could carry off the age-span from 18 to 88. Already having worked with Aishwarya Rai, he felt Aishwarya fitted the bill to play the role of MS Subbulakshmi and so the filmmaker approached her with the subject months back.

But, reportedly Aishwarya wasn’t too keen on the script and she didn’t revert to Menon and his team.

Finally, he settled on another South Indian actress, the poster girl of woman centric films,Vidya Balan. Confirming this in his recent interview Menon said, “I've narrated the script to Vidya, and she has liked it. We would now be taking the project to the next level next week after I return to India”.

So what do you guys think of this?

Well ,we all know, that Aishwarya has taken to motherhood effortlessly. Is she in no mood to return anytime soon? Or does the script lack the ingredients to be converted into a blockbuster which eventually made her to back out?

But I would say ,as long as she's happy that is all that matters! Share your thoughts !
