In an interview to the Hindustan Times newspaper, Farah Khan puts to rest all the speculation about the female lead of Happy New Year, her next directorial venture that is produced by Gauri Khan under the banner of Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment Pvt Ltd and stars SRK in the lead role.
Farah Khan dismisses the rumours of casting Priyanka Chopra as false and says, "I recently shot an ad film with her. That’s how these rumours started. I love PeeCee. I have worked with her in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004), Dostana (2008) and she also had a cameo in OSO. But I haven’t signed anyone yet. It’s a big budget movie, that’s why we are not in a hurry (to sign an actress)."
She adds, "It’s going to be the biggest movie of our careers in terms of scale and production. We will be working together after a very long time. I’m really looking forward to it."
Hope this puts to end all the rumours of different actresses being signed for the lead role.
Besides SRK, Farah has also signed Abhishek Bachchan and Boman Irani for the movie. Names of other actors - including Prithviraj Sukumaran (of Aiyyaa fame) and Sidharth Malhotra (of Student Of The Year fame) - have also been thrown around for other roles in the movie, but Farah Khan has not confirmed or denied any of these reports yet.
Farah Khan has directed SRK in Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om before this, both of which were also produced by SRK's company. Happy New Year is a romantic comedy.
