After the shocking news of Sanjay Dutt's five-year sentence, all eyes are on Salman's next hearing, which is on March 25. Salman needs to be present before the Sessions court for the hearing of his 2002 hit-and-run case. This will be Salman's first appearance before the Sessions court after Bandra Magistrate's court referred the case to the Sessions Court (because the offense he is now charged with is serious).
Sources say this will be a fresh trial and the evidence produced before the Magistrate's court will apparently not be considered.
The case is regarding the killing of one person and injuring of four, by the Land Cruiser allegedly driven by Salman Khan. Apparently, these people were sleeping on the pavement outside a bakery in suburban Bandra, in the wee hours of September 28, 2002 when the terrible incident occurred.
The Magistrate's order invoked charge of 'culpable homicide not amounting to murder' (section 304 part II of IPC).
