Queer Ink hosted the book launch of Out! Stories from the New Queer India, India’s most awaited LGBT anthology, after the 2009 Delhi High Court Ruling on section 377. The book launched by Nandita Das, is edited by Ms. Minal Hajratwala.
Nandita kept the audience engaged with her strong views about the cause and the book which consists of stories by 30 contributors. From The New Queer India, Gazal Dhaliwal, Juthika Nagpal, Meher Pestonji, Raj Rao, Ashish Sawhny who read excerpts from their respective stories.
Nandita Das stated “Out! is a collection of 30 stories that are diverse and come from all over India, and even the Diaspora, it is about the experiences and the literary imagination of LGBT people in India.”
Ms Minal Hajratwala is happy about the success of the book. “This book is a window into the contemporary LGBT experience in India and one of the very few Indian books that include a whole spectrum of the queer community, not just a particular segment.”
