After chalking out Bollywood’s first family – the Kapoor’s family tree, we thought of doing the same for the other Kapoors of Bollywood who have also contributed to Indian cinema in a major way. Yes, we’re talking about Surinder Kapoor and family. Take a look at this good looking family –
1st generation:
Surinder Kapoor
He was the one who introduced this family to the world of Bollywood. Surinder Kapoor started his career as Geeta Bali’s secretary and went on to become a producer. He also happens to be a distant cousin of Prithiviraj Kapoor. A recipient of the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke award, he served as President of the Film & Television Producers Guild of India for 6 years. He married Nirmal Devi and has four children – Boney, Anil, Reena and Sanjay.
2nd generation:
Boney Kapoor
Like his father, even Boney decided to become a producer. He has produced super hit blockbusters like Mr. India, Pukar, No Entry, Wanted and many others. Boney married Mona Shourie with whom he has two children – Arjun and Anshula. The couple got divorced after a few years. Boney then got married to the glamour queen of those times, Sridevi. The duo has two daughters – Jhanvi and Khushi. Mona Kapoor was the CEO of Future Studios and a film producer. She died after a long battle with cancer at the age of 47.
Anil Kapoor
The true flag bearer of this Kapoor khandaan, Anil Kapoor was a superstar of his times. Having completed almost 30 years in the film industry successfully and having given many memorable performances – Anil is one jhakaas star! He married Sunita Bhavnani and the couple has three children – Sonam, Rhea and Harshvardhan. He recently started his production house, Anil Kapoor Film Co. which produced Aisha and is now all set to introduce 24, the TV series in India.
Reena Kapoor Marwah
Surinder Kapoor’s daughter, Reena stayed away from the limelight. She got married to Sandeep Marwah of Marwah Films and Video Studios. The couple has two sons – Mohit and Akshay.
Sanjay Kapoor
Unfortunately, Sanjay’s career never took off the way his brother’s did. Even though he gave a few hits in the beginning of his career, he slowly disappeared from the scene. He then ventured into production and is seldom seen doing cameos. Sanjay married Maheep Sandhu and the couple has two children – Shanaya and Jehaan.
3rd generation:
Sonam Kapoor
Sonam Kapoor led the way for the youngest generation of this Kapoor family. She made her debut with Saawariya and has been on the road to success ever since. Bollywood’s fashionista and actress, Sonam also happens to be the spokesperson for the French beauty brand L’Oreal.
What is Ranveer Singh doing here you ask? Well Ranveer’s father is Sunita's (Sonam’s mother’s) first cousin which makes Ranveer and Sonam second cousins! A small world, indeed!
Arjun Kapoor
Boney’s son, Arjun made his debut as an actor with Ishaqzaade after assisting in movies like Kal Ho Na Ho and Salaam-E-Ishq. Termed as Bollywood’s newest angry young man, Arjun made a promising debut and has often been compared to his Anil chachu. His sister Anshula recently graduated from Columbia University and now works with Google.
Rhea Kapoor
Anil’s second daughter, Rhea is a producer and has also designed Sonam’s costumes in the past. Even though the two sisters are as different as chalk and cheese, they are very fond of each other. Her father and sister are famous actors but Rhea’s happier staying behind the scenes!
Harshvardhan Kapoor
Anil’s 21 year old son, Harshvardhan recently returned from the US after studying screenplay writing and acting. We hear that he has turned down offers by directors like Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and Vikramaditya Motwane in the past and might consider directing instead. Currently, he is focusing on assisting Anurag Kashyap for his next film, Bombay Velvet.
Mohit Marwah
Sandeep and Reena’s son, Mohit is all set to make his Bollywood debut. Recently spotted in many occasions, Mohit garnered attention due to his good looks. He has already acted in a short film produced by Karan Johar and has managed to impress as well! It won’t be too long until he joins his cousins in Bollywood!
