Veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai will be revealing his latest discovery on his birthday today.
The actress will make her debut in Ghai's next directorial venture Kaanchi that will release on 15th August 2013. Made on a budget of Rs 35 crores, Kaanchi is said to be one of his most expensive and ambitious ventures, other than Yuvraaj, which failed at the box office.
The girl in question is Mishti. Ghai says, "“More than 240 girls auditioned for the role but most were devoid of talent. The ones who were talented were not good looking.” Finally, one of Ghai's assistants recommended Mishti who was a struggler at the time. Ghai also explains that Mishti is in fact the actress's real name and she is from Kolkata, and he doesn't rename his heroines. He continues, "I liked her pictures and decided to call her to Mumbai. We made her go through various screen tests for six days. I must say she came out with flying colours. She is an actress of Kajol’s calibre."
It's quite a coincidence that Mishti shares her name's first alphabet with Meenakshi Sheshadri (real name Shashikala), Madhuri Dixit, Manisha Koirala and Mahima Choudhary (real name Ritu) - all fellow Mukta Arts discoveries.
The film will go on floors on February 18. Mishti is already taking extensive training in acting, speech, dancing and martial arts. She will be sharing screen space with Kartik Tiwari of Pyaar Ka Punchnama and Akaash Vani fame.
It also stars Rishi Kapoor and Mithun Chakraborty, and will feature music by Ismail Darbar and Salim-Sulaiman. It is a story of an innocent girl from Uttarakhand whose father, an ex-army man, gets shot. This event turns her life upside down and after a certain point she refuses to be the victim and stands up to fight her way out and emerges a winner, Mumbai Mirror reported.
