India's 3rd highest civilian award, the Padma Bhushan, will be presented to the late Rajesh Khanna posthumously and Sharmila Tagore. Rajesh Khanna passed away in July last year and is widely regarded as the first or original superstar of Indian cinema with a record of 15 consecutive hit films in his career which remains unbroken to this day. Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore starred in several hit films: Amar Prem, Aradhana and Daag: A Poem Of Love are a few such films that come to mind.
Sridevi was snubbed at the major awards ceremonies for her splendid comeback to the silver screen with English Vinglish. However, Sridevi will be awarded the Padma Shri (India's 4th highest civilian award) for her remarkable contribution to cinema.
